About Disinformation Warriors

Origin Story

Started in the summer of 2020 by a group of artists, writers, and concerned citizens, Disinformation Warriors is a creative study designed to find out if art and animation can save the world from the corrosion of truth! In other words, can the investigation of scientific research and the creation of animated artworks be used to help inspire critical thinking skills and media literacy in our communities? We believe, now more than ever, being a responsible digital citizen matters! We are on a mission to stop the spread of online disinformation! This creative project has been designed and created by professional educators, animators and writers who utilize research, education and art making to combat the spread of disinformation. Our research will be shared on this website with our growing Disinformation Warrior community. A project of Calgary Animated Objects Society (CAOS), this pilot project is part of the, Calgary Animated Objects Society (CAOS) this pilot project is part of the, Digital Citizen’s Initiative, , funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage. Disinformation Warriors is an ongoing project, check back often for updates and new content!

Land Acknowledgement

We recognize the necessity and importance of being aware and recognizing Indigenous presence and land rights in what we do as musicians and artists.We honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis (AKA Calgary), and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. We also acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work, play and create on this land, and those who honour and celebrate this territory
